True to their agreement, the sorcerers Tukurutis and Irena Kosmonautai—residents of the village of Nyciai—set off for the town of Kupiškis first thing in the morning, flying straight there from home on their broomsticks. Their goal was not merely to loiter about, but to make a determined, secret attempt to enter the abandoned "Kupa" hotel, look around, and seek the answers they needed. Fortunately, by employing all their magical powers, they managed to get inside quite easily—though what they saw there brought them no joy whatsoever. Every room was blanketed in a thick layer of dust, making it impossible to find anything specific; the task was further complicated by the lack of natural light in the disused premises.
