Tukurutis and Irena Kosmonautai—sorcerers and residents of the village of Nyciai—realized what a wonderful opportunity this was to socialize and, at the same time, meet in person with Irena’s parents, who lived nearby. They decided to fly over to the Autumn Festival taking place that very day in the center of Kupiškis. True to their new habit, both sorcerers from Nyciai immediately hopped onto their broomsticks in the yard and soared through the air toward Kupiškis. However, they didn't head straight for the square where the festival bustle was centered; instead, they flew directly to the apartment building where Irena’s parents—the Pirštas couple—lived. Of the two, only the mother—the medium Marijona—agreed to join her daughter and son-in-law as they flew toward the lively town square; she, too, straddled her own broomstick in the apartment building's courtyard to take flight.
