A childhood memory of receiving a new issue of the magazine "Naminukas" on an October evening

Here is an old memory from my childhood—a recollection of a time when I had just begun the fourth grade at the primary school in the village of Bakšėnai. It was a full month later—October 1994 was already well underway. That was when I finally received, by mail, the September issue of *Naminukas*, a children’s magazine my mother had subscribed to for me. I remember clearly that it was evening—a quiet, chilly, and distinctly autumnal time. In a pasture by the country lane not far from our homestead, my mother was milking one of our cows. I was hanging around nearby—and I wasn’t alone; my beloved little dog, Musė, had followed us from the homestead. She was darting happily around us and the cows, likely waiting for one thing: to be given some of the freshly milked cow’s milk to drink. Remembering that we had completely forgotten to collect the mail from our mailbox in the village, I hurried along the same path—right beside our freshly plowed fallow field on the left—as the autumn evening
